Well, you are right about that what can be accomplished with sharepoint 2007
can be also accomplished via vs2005.
But you should take into account that Sharepoint is a product for
colloboration while vs2005 is a development environment. You cant replace
them with another. They compliment each other.
I have been struggling with wss 3.0(free version of MOSS 2007) for about a
time now and what we are using for customization and branding are like
vs2005,SP designer 2007.
It is completely a different beast when you deploy your solutions, but still
you write web parts, class libraries web controls.
